"Waste Not, Want Not"

What did you think of Crystal Lake's "Waste Not, Want Not"? Is her argument effective? What about the intro--does it fit the rest of the paper?

  1. I agree that her argument is quite effective because she uses many believable data; however, I don't think her intro is effective. Of course, her intro is really descriptive and emotional. It might be an easy way to get readers' attention, but I don't know exactly the relationship between her intro and her thesis sentence. Is there any other function like this intro? Except getting attentions.

  2. I think her argument is effective because she uses a lot of credible sources to back up her claims and information. Although her intro is a little over the top at some points, I think it is a good way to start her paper- with own her experiences, and that helps to explain why this topic is important to her.

  3. I really hated her intro, it long, flowerly and doesn't fit in the rest of the paper at all. On top of that, we care figure out her topic at all. I think it really hurts her paper, if I didn't have to read it for class, I would of stop reading completely.
