"What's the Matter With Kids Today?"

Okay, so I'm playing catch-up with the blog: here is the post for your comments on Amy Goldwasser's "What's the Matter With Kids Today?"

We tend to focus sometimes on the negative effects of technology on kids. What are some positive uses of technology that teens (or young adults) engage in?

  1. One of positive thing is a feeling freedom. It makes teens express their ideas and feelings more freely than face-to-face talking because their blogs and SNS services are very private spaces. Nobody can access to their spaces without their permissions.

  2. I want to post this article as a supplement to this. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/27/books/27reading.html?pagewanted=all

It goes much deeper into the literacy debate. As for positive thing you can get from technology. For me it too much to name, and it far out weight the the cons from not having technology. We should be moving forward not backwards as a human race.

  3. Even though there are many negitive sides to technology, there are also many positive one. Technology allows us to access information more quickly, share things easily, and communicate with others in the convience of our own home.

  4. Technology has made our lives easier (can get information right at our fingertips, you can check weather, movie times, etc. right on your phone wherever you are), safer (cell phones, can call from wherever you are, if you're in trouble or need help), more informed (can learn a lot about stuff happening in different places around the world; also instead of going to the library to try and look for a bunch of different stuff, you can just type it into the internet and get so many more sources and from all over too), and even sometimes more grammatically correct (I love spell check and auto correct, just wish it was used more on the internet), along with many more ways in which technology has improved our lives.
